Wedding Planning Update
Popping on to give ya’ll a quick wedding planning update!
As you may know, we found our venue! We are having our wedding at a Historic House in Nashville. We were torn between this historic house and a large venue meant for hosting events. We ended up going with the historic house because it gave us the flexibility to customize our wedding the way that we want it to be and it is A LOT more affordable.
Not going to lie, the decision was a toughie. The large wedding venue offered all of the bells and whistles and the planning was all included and there wouldn’t be much I had to plan besides just final touches. The historic house, on the other hand, gave us just the house (which we can’t even hold a dinner in) so basically just the land. Everything else is up to me. Like EVERYTHING. I have been emailing vendors and reading reviews like there is no tomorrow. So far I have found my photobooth annnnnnd that’s it (regarding the reception, at least.) I have talked to about half a dozen caterers but nothing has really stuck out to me. So my next big to do’s are catering and DJ.
I found my photographer! I am so excited because she is bomb.com. So bomb.com that we are flying her out from Phoenix to Nashville to shoot our wedding. WE had our engagement pictures with her in late October and I fell in love with them. She gave us specific instructions and the pictures look amazing. Such a big weight off my shoulders!
And, last but certainly not least…. I found my dress!! I went down to Phoenix this past weekend and went shopping with my mom, sister, future mother in law, future sister in law and two friends. I had made appointments at two shops and found my dress at the first shop and it was the first dress I tried on. I walked out and my mom started to cry. I tried on more dresses at the first appointment but still loved the first one the most. (One of them actually gave me hives from the fabric that it was made of, ew). I even went to the second appointment so I wouldn’t think “what if” but I never had the same feeling that I got with the first one. It was a tad over budget so I brought my dad with me the next day so I could show him and he was sold. The dress will be in my possession in….. 4-6 months.
So what have I learned from this experience so far? Holy guacamole it is a lot of work. I have learned to be extra patient. I have learned that things are freakin’ expensive. I have learned that things are easier when you have your partner to help you help make decisions. I have learned to sit back, sip some wine, and enjoy the ride!
